After having gone through the Harris bag detailed in the last thread, I got bitten by the "WW Stamp Bug".
So, I traipsed down into my basement and pulled out a large storage tote that contains the bulk of my worldwide collection.
I happened to find a small box therein that contained a mixture of stamps that I've never had a chance to look through.
The box was given to me about ten years ago by a friend when he found out I was a stamp collector.
Actually I did go through the lot once back then, only to pull out all of the U.S. stuff, but I didn't stop to look closely at any of the WW material.

So, now I figured I might as well share this small trip of discovery with the forum!

Here is an overall pic of the accumulation:

Stay tuned....

Time to get started...

The first items to catch my eye were these three H.E. Harris glassine envelopes:

The first is a 20-stamp Aviation-themed packet, featuring four partial sets of air post issues from Hungary and Mongolia.

In typical Harris packet fashion, none of the sets include the top two higher value denominations.

This offering consists of Hungary...

...and Mongolia.

The second packet is titled "Winter Wonderland" and consists of 30 different stamps depicting various ice / snow sports and other activities.

Countries represented include:
Poland
Czechoslovakia
Romania
Hungary
USSR
Mongolia
Togo
San Marino

The third packet contains that "Necessity of Stamp Collecting" - stamp hinges.
These hinges are not pre-folded. I'll have to try them out and see if they work OK.

Much more to come...

The next item of note was an unused booklet of Canada QE2 stamps - 5 1-cent and 5 4-cents.

Next up are the remaining off- paper stamps in this lot....

First is a glassine envelope full of various definitives from various countries, ranging from 1870s Austrian Franz Joseph issues up through the 1970s. Roughly 75 stamps.
Yes, there were even a couple of 'Glasses Guy' and 'Bald Dude' stamps thrown in for good measure!

Next up is another glassine envelope containing a handful of common West German stamps. Oddly there is a lone 1944 semi-postal stamp that somehow snuck in there.

Lastly, there were a few random off-paper commemorative stamps floating around in the box...

All that is left in the box now is a number of on-piece stamps and a few full covers. I plan to spend this evening with some scissors, cleaning up the torn envelope edges of the on-piece specimens to make them a bit more presentable.
I'll start posting pics tomorrow.
I really enjoy going through accumulations of stamps and covers like this one. Even though there is really no material that is of any significant value, it is still fun to spend some quiet time examining the stamps and possibly adding new acquisitions to the overall collection.
Cheers!

The next batch of items to peruse consisted of a number of on-piece stamps and postal card cut squares from the Marshall Islands. I'm not sure if these are first day items or actual postally used and cancelled mail pieces. Only one of the cancels in this group identifies it as a first day issue.
Cool bunch of stamps/etc. nonetheless...

More to come....
