This block of 4 Scott 2027-2030 X-mas stamps appears to have a color flaw. There is no mention of color flaws in the Specialized catalog. Your insight is appreciated.

The fading of the black typographic elements on the two lefthand stamps suggests the colours have been affected by water, solvent, or light; most probably one or both the former two. The further to the left, the lighter (grayer) becomes the black.

You have posted this in the 'Canada' forum. You would get a better response if it was moved to the "USA" forum.

Oops new to the forum so did not realize I had posted to Canada. Not quite sure how to move to US.
Regarding the loss of black color, is there a reason why the ink used for these stamps would be sensitive to fading by immersion in water or solvent? I do not know the method used to float the stamps so its possible. Would an experiment with another block provide some information as to the potential for dissolution?
Thank you for the quick response.

Soaking in too hot water? Soaking in water with a solvent? A cleaning attempt with a solvent?
Or just someone experimenting.
