I absolutely love and adore all the stamps you guys and girls posted on here for the art deco stamps topic. Thank you all for posting your examples. Some of these stamps I have in my collection and some I plan to add to my collection later on. Every time I come on here the things I see always remind me of why I love stamps so much - they are all so beautiful to look at

Thank you. Funny that you said that just now, as I was just wondering to myself if anybody still cares about / looks at this thread.

Venezuela 1937 airmail (and an overprint). Incredibly beautiful art deco designs from this whole set. I can't quite find good, clean images of everything from it.

New Zealand is famous for its Art Deco architecture. Many of its towns were still in the process of development in the 1920s and 1930s, and the city of Napier in Hawkes Bay is considered one of the world capitals of Art Deco - it was virtually destroyed by an earthquake in 1931 and subsequently much of it was rebuilt in Art Deco style.

New Zealand issued a set in 1999 showing Art Deco buildings...

Unfortunately I can't supply photos of these two buildings...

In 2006 New Zealand issued a miniature sheet commemorating the earthquake, and the set included a stamp showing the National Tobacco Building in Napier, which was rebuilt in 1932 after the earthquake. It was designed by Louis Hay.

My photo of the building, taken in 2019:

The city of Napier holds Art Deco festivals and you can go on city tours throughout the year in 1930s automobiles. Many of Napier's art deco buildings are now protected as historic places.

It reminds me a lot of the Miami art deco architecture. There were apparently protests in the 70s where people wanted the art deco structures demolished because they somehow considered them ugly and believed they needed to be replaced with something newer. I would hate to meet such people.

My town has 3 major art deco structures. Two of them have been changed to be nearly unrecognisable, both old cinemas. One is now unused and empty, while the other got bought by an international cinema company who remodelled the 100 year old building to their style (ie. Ugly), while the 3rd building, a hospital built in 1936, mostly has the original style present on the exterior, with newer buildings not impacting much of the original style.
