I started collecting U.S. stamps when I was 7 years old. I'm now 74. I'm in good health (knock on wood), but I realize I have more days behind me than ahead. To that end a few years ago I decided I should sell my collection, and I did so via auction and realized enough from the proceeds to likely break even at least. Now however I have odds and ends that are realize are not auctionable (I don't want to list on
ebay). The odds and ends include a lot of mint sheets from the mid-70s to early 80s, mint souvenir cards, plate blocks (does anyone collect those anymore?), first day covers (see plate block comment), even some foreign issues from here and there that I know are not of much value. I know a brick and mortar stamp store would not be interested. The sheets are not really good for postage even because to make the current rate more than cover the entire envelope. So what I do with it all? Have grandkids, but the oldest is 12 and I don't think they'll be interested. It would be nice to realize some $$ out of the disposition, but I'm not really needing the proceeds. Does Boy's town still take philatelic donations? APS? Some other charitable organization that might at least yield a tax deduction? Other ideas??
