IM(H)O it is only a matter of time, political will and more tens of billions in burned cash before the trusty old USPS is a distant memory.

Why do you feel this way you ask?

Well, let me tell you.

I have had probably over a thousand Amazon packages delivered over the years and with the exception of a handful of small items UPS did the deeds.

So, eight days ago Amazon decided to get all crazy with it and send a 35-pound box of goods via USPS which took me by surprise. Not to worry I said to myself.

It did not go well. Wherein UPS delivers from the local Amazon FC within two or maybe three days, USPS sat on my box in NJ for five days. It was taking a siesta. Just as day six was approaching they decided to get it moving. To Philadelphia, a stone's throw away from its NJ vacation spot. Now, it has been drinking and chasing women (or maybe men) for three days. Not in a rush are we.

That is my story. This is not the institution that delivered bags of gold and children. The shark has been jumped. How many more years? Will they survive 47? Can't wait to see while waiting for the next rate increases.

PS: I could easily have driven the box myself from NJ to my house and still had time for a seven-day vacation.

Perhaps Amazon, or a third party seller, is sending you a message regarding its desire as having you as a future customer. Or, is gently suggesting it is time to invest in their Prime program.

Prime member forever. They just suck now like many others. Bezos needs the cash for his third wedding on Uranus.

I came home the other day and found an Amazon box on my front porch. I hadn't ordered anything and looked at the address label. I live on 47th street. The box was addressed to my address but on 38th St.! I just jumped in the car and finished the Amazon driver's delivery. I figured it was easier than calling Amazon customer service and trying to explain things.

My motivation for posting this (besides cathartic venting about a First World problem) was to give one example of an untenable USPS, at least as currently constituted.

They constantly howl about decreasing First-Class letter volume and the need to shift to service increasing package volume and yet not only do nothing to improve package handling service, they actually get worse, all while losing money consistently.

I order from Amazon a lot, been a Prime member since the early days and they deliver EARLY more often than not. I can't remember the last time that anything coming from Amazon has shown up late, no matter how it gets here.
