Hello,

I just noticed the late Ralph E. Trimble's site is gone :(

https://re-entries.com/

Does anyone know if it was mirrored or indexed somewhere? This would be an unfortunate loss of a fantastic resource if gone. Fingers crossed it is available somewhere!

According to the BNAPS website, Ralph's website has been archived by the Vincent Graves Green Philatelic Research Foundation.

IT appears that there is at least a version of the website here....

https://re-entries.greenefoundationarchive.ca/

I suppose that one could contact them and see if there is any plan to continue to add new material to the website.

I didn't know Ralph Trimble, as the subject of the re-entries area is not one of my collecting and research interests.

But I have a great concern about the needless loss of any important philatelic website such as this one. From my previous post, it appears that some thought had been given to the preservation of Ralph's re-entry website.

Prior to his death in 2024, one of the objectives that Don Denman and I had discussed regarding the role of the newly formed Stamp Smarter Foundation was that we would like to have it serve as a resource for the preservation and backup for private, individually developed and operated (non-philatelic society owned) websites, with the hope that depending upon the desires of the owner/developer, his family, his willingness to work with us to preserve his website, and the manner by which the website was coded, the Stamp Smarter Foundation and its website might be able to become a subsequent home for the contents of the original website.

As I write this, we do not have the resources in place to guarantee that we can rehost such a website in the immediate future, but we would be able to preserve all of the code and data files provided for possible future hosting.

A similar offer stands for other private philatelic websites that are currently operating. Don was able to preserve the 1847USA website which is now on Stamp Smarter. We believe in the long term, the Stamp Smarter Foundation can possible serve the philatelic community by working towards such a goal.

Anyone on this forum who has their own philatelic oriented website, and is concerned about its continuity, is invited to contact me through this forum or the Stamp Smarter website Connect button. We can at least discuss how we might be able to work together to ensure the knowledge is preserved.

Today, we received a very good news from the VGGreene foundation regarding the preservation of Ralph Trimble site "Re-Entries.com"
The VGGreene foundation has created a new section on the VGGPRF website to archive inactive philatelic websites and that is where re-entries.com is now (and forever) preserved. see https://greenefoundationarchive.ca/
The VGGreene foundation library publishes a regular newsletter, at https://www.greenefoundation.ca/new.../Newsletter, in my mind a must resource for anyone interested in British North America philately
