I have a stamp from Denmark from the 1942-1946 period, Scott #282. It is a stamp of very little value, but the stamp I have has a series of perforated holes running through the stamp. I didn't see anything mentioned in Scott about it, so just wondering what the holes are for and if I might have missed something mentioned in Scott about this?

Cheers,

Marc

Hi Marc and welcome to the forum,

Generally perf holes were used by companies and government agencies to prevent the theft of the stamps and their misuse.

Your particular one is from Københavns Kommune "Breakers" used between the years 1905 12 - 1983 06.

Here are a couple more of the Breakers perfin :

Thank you Drew. I appreciate the great feedback. Does it make the stamp a lot more valuable or even more vualuable at all or was it pretty common?

From my reading on Denmark this one seems very common - so no the value would not be affected by this perfin. Some people frown on perfins and others find them interesting and very collectable.

If you want to read further on denmark perfins here are the sites I got the information from :

http://zenius.kalnieciai.lt/europe/...perfins.html
http://www.dphs-net.dk/perfin/Perforator.pdf

and then Københavns Kommune or City of Copenhagen

BUMPING this older topic just for fun. I was wondering about this perfin on a much older Denmark Stamp (20 ore, Scott 48). Not pretty, but I like the perfin:

According to this website:

I was easily able to identify the company:

I just knew everything was going to be OK today ...
