Does anyone here know anything about these. Particularly the significance of the red P. Came across these in a postmark collection. There are several suburbs too with this red P and all on the same yellow paper. There are numbers printed on the back with the corresponding pencil numbers on the front. Any info would be appreciated.
Just a guess - given that there is no stamp to indicate that postage has been paid, perhaps the additional red P auxiliary marking (not part of the datestamp) was used to show that postage had been 'P'aid?

Considering Google is unable to come up with other examples than those in the OP, it may well have been Google's AI used the suggestion in this thread that it meant paid.
