By the way, on the subject of Italian overprints, has anyone ever seen one like this. I couldn't find any overprints in Scott on Italian stamps which had the word Corona in it.

You can find those under Austria, near the end of the listings - Occupation Stamps, issued under Italian Occupation, 1919.

Thanks Ryan. I found them on Page 691, Volume 1 under Austria as you suggested. The first two in the scan I posted are N66 and N67, but the 3rd stamp doesn't seem to be of the same design/type. Do you think it might be N68 though anyway? Cheers. Marc

Have a look at the design type listed for your occupation stamps - the 5c and 10c stamps both use design type A48, but the 20c stamp uses design type A50. Since Italian stamps were used for these overprints, you need to go to the Italian listings to check design types A48 and A50. And then you'll see, yes, your third stamp is N68.

Barwani...[not in the]...Top One Thousand

Oh, Tony, don't be so hard on yourself. Barwani is almost certainly in the Top One Thousand. Or Two. Top Two Thousand, for sure...

marcbkk-
Higher value stamps, especially in the British Commonwealth, were often used for revenue purposes. Postal usage is often quite elusive for some issues, which adds to the value of a genuine postally-used example. Over time, you'll get a sixth sense for revenue cancels, which are usually the kiss of death for catalogue value. I'll still buy them (at a steep discount), but I know I might have a hard time selling them. Then again, I'll buy revenue stamps.

Luckily, I'm not selling...

During the first world war Austria overprinted Italian stamps when they held the territory and then in 1918 Italy overprinted Austrian stamps when they took Northern Italy from Austria..it does get confusing which catalog to grab......

It does Phil, thanks. I agree. Especially with overprints during war times.

When stamps get overprinted for a second time, then things are starting to get interesting! Maybe we need a new topic...
