This is a fairly recent one. Maybe early 1970s. I combed through Scott and can't seem to find it. It probably isn't worth much, but it has pretty colors and I am just a bit curious about it. Thanks as always. Marc

This stamp was issued in 1963, part of the "contemporary aircraft" set - it features the Rolls Royce Dart.

It is the key value of the set - in 1994 (!) it was worth £3.25 mint never hinged according to my ancient simplified Stanley Gibbons world catalogue. Somebody with a recent catalogue should be able to give you an up-to-date price.

And I agree, it does have pretty colors. An attractive stamp.

It's shown in SG as part of a set issued 1963, (SG 741) but it may actually have been issued in 1965, and it's also issued on a mini-sheet. Check those dates in Scott.

It's Scott C127, $2.50 in the 2006 catalog - issued May 4, 1965.

I think that the "DART" on the left margin of the stamp refers to the plane engine, the Rolls Royce Dart. The plane in the air is maybe a Vickers Viscount. The plane on the ground has wings over the fuselage and is maybe a Fokker F27. In any case, cool stamp & I want one!

SG Part 10 (2010) describes the design as "Rolls Royce Dart 527 turboprop engine".

It has the issue date for this value as 4th March 1965 and is priced at mint £7.25, used £5.50.

Thank you all. I only am using Scott for the moment so unfortunately I can't check the other catalogs referenced. I do see it now under C127 in my 2009 Scott catalog. It is valued at $6 per stamp and $27.50 for a sheet of 4. I have that single one I posted the photo of and also the sheet of 4 which is like a souvenir sheet. The sheet is quite nice actually. Seeing those 4 together in a sheet is beautiful with all the colors.

The price is unchanged in the 2010 Scott catalog.

I agree, unusual perspective and added impact
with a blood red sky.

Some more fokkers, only the bottom identified as F27
F27=fokker friendship?

Speaking of meeting the Fokkers...

Are there any stamps around with the Fokker DR.I of Red Baron (and Snoopy) fame?

Snoopy doesn't fly a plane, but he likes to imagine that his dog-house is a Sopwith Camel. :)
