Note the unpunched perforation on the left end of the top and bottom perf rows. Is this a noted variety in a specialty listing? Gibbons does not address this

Perf punch errors are common on many issues from many countries and not listed. The pin could have broken, or was bent.

Here is an earlier topic concerning a half pin, and a missing pin on a Great Britain stamp:

Yes but that does not mean they have not been well studied. For example the WWII era poor perforation maintenance and resulting varieties of missing perf patterns up to and including full imperf between example have been well studied on the US Prexie and Defense (899-901) Issues. One such student was John Hotchner.

Just wondering if such exists for the above. Plus this has the added interest of the top/bottom "pairing of the defect(s).

EDITED TO ADD: In no way a put down, but the British Colony flyspeckers put the US flyspeckers to shame and is another reason for my question.

The missing perf variety is noted in the "Union Handbook" (Stamps of South Africa Handbook Catalogue).

The handbook lists it on the 1/2d,1d & 1 1/2d denominations.
This occurs on the right-hand pane of the sheet, in all rows in column 1.

First, thank you clivel for a response; and, secondly for the best response I could have hoped for.
