Edit: I was excited when I wrote 1962, using ! instead of just a 1.
1940 World Exhibition, Lisbon, Portugal. The theme of the exhibition was The Age of Discovery. Two of the stamps depict the Monument Of The Discoveries, which was demolished in 1943 and then reconstructed from 1958 to 1960 as a permanent monument.
CTOs "from" Manama, issued in 1972 for the 1976 Philadelphia World's Fair, before the 1976 World's Fair was relocated to Boston, and then ultimately cancelled entirely. As far as I know, these are the only stamps issued for a world's fair that did not take place at all.
