Earlier this year I started digital reconstructions of the US 3c stamp 1851-57.

So far I have completed plates 1L left, 2L left and right and 3 left. While completed, some positions could use better images. I'm presently working on 1L right and need 1200dpi images for several positions.

These completed reconstructions will be made available to anyone interested.

Yes, I miss KG as well.
Mark R here - I recall long phone conversations in the 1990s with KG and also you with regard to how to do macro photography. After large numbers of hours with you guys explaining it to me, I finally got pretty good at it, and then, seemingly, "the next day", scanners appeared on the scene. That was the last macro photography I did. Too bad, it was interesting.

Anyway, I'm glad to see you around.

Hi 3c1851Fritz,

I'd like to have images of your reconstructions. Are they digital images of your reconstruction of the plates? Or are they are digital images of positions you collected from various sources? Also, let me know the positions you are needing and I can see what I have.

Regards

Harper 1249 - The digital plate reconstructions I am working on are very nice 4 margin stamps from a multiple sources. ioauoa has made his collection available to me plus several other sources. My plan is to host the plates on my D'box account as the file size per pane is a bit over 100MB.

I'm looking for a 1200dpi scan of a nice 16R1L

As a new member I can't email, maybe you can email me.

Hi Fritz --

Welcome -- and great to have you here on SCF!!!

Interesting that both you and txstamp mentioned KG -- as he was probably the person most responsible for getting me hooked on the 1851 3c issue -- and introducing me to you more than a few decades ago.

He used to work Stanley Piller's booth at many Calif stamp shows -- and I would spend hours at that table visiting with him.

Here are a couple of stamps in my collection that were plated by KG -- and bear his mark.
