Hi,

Can anyone recommend any literature to gb and ireland pre stamp covers and wrappers, especially pennypost and additional markings / handstamps etc.
Any links would also be great,

Maybe The Postmarks of the British Isles from 1840 to 1876 by Hendy?? The gbps.org.uk has some good downloads I believe.

2 more I think they have as downloads, Postmarks of England and Wales and Postmarks of Great Britain and Ireland 1660 to 1940

For England & Wales, the books you need are the "British County Catalogue of Postal History" by Willcocks & Jay. There are five volumes.

For Scotland, the "Postal Markings of Scotland to 1940" by Bruce Auckland is the book you'll need.

There surely must be a similar volume for Ireland, but having not studied their postal history, I don't know of any publications.

EDIT: Maybe the "Handbook of Irish Postal History To 1840" by David Feldman & Bill Kane might be helpful?
