Scott 65 On Cover To A Town In NY?

Pretty positive this is a #65 comparing to me 64 and 64b. But wondering the name of the town in NY. Appears to start with an A and end with EO. Cannot find a post office with those letters. Any suggestions.

I love the script lettering on those old letters. Just lovely. Sent to Cattaraugus County.

Kent, you/re correct on the stamp being 65.
Postmarked in 1865, #65 is the only option. 64, 64a, 64b, were all printed in August of '61, so there's very little chance that anything after the first couple of months in '62 could be 64-anything.

The first letter does not look like an A. If you orient it so that it is standing straight up and down, the left leg is angled, the right one is straight up and down. Maybe an M that is cut off?

Is the state NY or NV?

Thanks all - pretty postivie it is NY with that cancellation but possible starting with M or even N perhaps, and probably 8 letter city name. Partime thanks for that link, that will be helpful for this a future. The elegance of their writing in script was amazing. I found some information on this person so that may link the town as well.

Origin cancel is Buffalo, NY, the first of their special killers intended to cut into the stamp. Yorkshire Center & Elton are a few miles apart, both south of Buffalo and just into Cattaraugus County.

BENJAMIN KNOWLTON was b. at Clarendon. Vt. He was
educated in part at Brandon (Vt.) Seminary, in which institution he subsequently became a
teacher. Removing to Western New York he accepted the position of principal of a public
school in Buffalo, retiring from this, after faithful and successful work, to Springville, N. Y.
He finally purchased a farm in Elton, N. Y., where he passed the remainder of a happy and
useful life. He also studied medicine, and received a license to practice as a botanical
physician, but he never made this his actual profession. He was an ardent Methodist, helpful and generous in his support of the work of that denomination, but by no means limited, either in sympathy or practical assistance, to his household of faith. His old saddle-bags are now the valued heirlooms of his son, Dr. Chas. Benjamin.

This is consistent with Scott 65 in its period of use.

1847CensusTaker thanks for the added information. I did have someinformation on himself and his family from the 1860 Census. I love the remark about his old saddle bags being valued heirlooms.
