Hi everyone, thought id share an example of when one cover can take on a journey of collecting, I have no links to Canada, mounted police, im not even that fond of horses, feel free to correct if I've got anything wrong, im sure I have.
be pleased to see any other RCMP covers.

1st June 1935 First day cover, im not sure the rate is correct so maybe purely philatelic, this obviously started the rabbit hole.



1936 cover from the office of the commissioner of police bearing FREE Frank ottawa , june 17th 6pm and the cachet J.H.Macbrien, Sir James H. Macbrien 1931 - 1938



1933 letter from Winnipeg Municipal police to the Sheriff of Los Angeles




Letter from R.C.M.P. at North Vancouver to the city police, note both types of overprints used in 1951, from 1949 overprinted stamps were used by the force on all official mail, originally overprinted OHMS but from 1950 this was changed to G



Official free frank Used at H.Q. 10/06/1940 Cachet bears the signature of S.T.Wood commissioner



1955 cover showing the use of C4 overprint RCMP Richmond dept.



G overprints were first issued 2/10/1950 there were 3variations, this 1951 cover bears a KGVI 3c with type 02 overprint



RCMP detachment at Inuvik, NW territory bordering with Yukon Territory, the police operated a post office from here serving fur trappers etc,



1971 cover from RCMP at Swift Current Sask.



The use of the G overprints was discontinued in 1963, from teh 1st Jan 1964 Postage paid envelopes were used.



1956 Cloverdale B.C. G Overprinted stamps, Both Type 02 ?






Port Smith NWT, located near Gt. Slave Lake , border of NWT and Albert, QEII G overprint



RCMP Eskimo Point Detachment, On the western shore of Hudson Bay a small detacthment carry all mail to Fort Churchill, Manitoba which is the nearest post office. G overprint



Yellowknife NWT



From 1st april 1972 new postal regulations required all official mail to carry normal postal charges as a result stamps were now used?



With the above covers description Some larger Offices were issued with PB Franking Machines instead of having to use stamps



RCMP Police Dog Service Cover 1982 sent to Hong Kong



Registered Letter 1978 fron Edmonton police to RCMP in Edmonton,



Moncton police force New Brunswick official letter to FBI man Jack Ketcham?

Very interesting cover collection that covers RCMP stamps on cover, RCMP to and from addressed covers, RCMP postcards, etc. Thanks for showing your collection. I was trying to find the printing plate position of a variety that resulted from some later damage to the printing plate (scuff?): https://goscf.com/t/52127
