I wonder how to distinguish Northern China Japanese occupational overprints on "not issued stamps" from overprints on the originals, p.e. on some martyrer stamps. See the picture of my Michel catalogue for illustration. Please some help. Thank you for looking into it! Kind regards, Cor.

@Cor, with "not edited," did you mean "unissued" stamps?

From the Michel listings, you are looking at overprints on non-issued stamps. That gives the impression you are asking how to distinguish between overprints on non-issued stamps and overprints on issued stamps. The issued stamps would be different from the non-issued stamps.

Thank you for the feedback. It was my limited knowledge of English that caused confusion. I edited my question using the proper terms!

Do you have an example of the listing of overprints on the "original" stamps from that Michel catalogue?

Here an example, so the question (relating to the martyrer imprints) is: how to distinguish the A313-318 stamps from the 291-E292 stamps ! The same question applies to the Sun-Yat-sen imprints.

The numbers between brackets after the colours appear to refer to the listing of the unoverprinted stamp in the main "China" listing. I get the impression the overprint is not what you should be looking at, but the stamp that was overprinted.

Does the "China" listing have non-issued stamps numbered in Roman numerals?

The main "China" listing (referred to by the numbers between brackets) does not mention the non-issued stamps at all, that's the problem!
