I thought I might find an answer that showed some interesting philatelic detail in the classification
I'm not a philatelist- I know about the society that used these stamps (Corn Laws, Speenhamland Act, Irish Famine, Crimean War, Brunel's atmospheric railway, the death of Prince Albert and the resultant isolation and unpopularity of Victoria). I also studied under tutors that studied under Norbert Elias, so I know what verzuiling means. And my degree dissertation was on a certain application of paint.

Anyway, is that Maltese cross cancel worth checking out? It did look a bit malformed to me, but maybe that's just smudges.
