Chinese Year of the Monkey, 2016, Bhutan. In a well-known Eastern Buddhist legend, often called "The Four Harmonious Friends," a bird, a rabbit, a monkey, and an elephant cooperate to enjoy the fruit of a tree. Each animal contributes according to its ability: the elephant provides strength, the monkey agility, the rabbit support, and the bird guidance. By working together rather than competing, they achieve what none could do alone. In Bhutanese culture, this story symbolizes harmony, mutual respect, cooperation, and social unity, values that are visually expressed in the stacked arrangement of the animals on this stamp. |

Year of the Monkey ... still two years to wait, but that is probably good for my wallet ... There are always so many stamps, not just from Asian cultures but also from other countries, acknowledging Chinese New Year..And let's not mention the M o t Y coins, some of them gold and well above my purchasing power - but stamps are still possible, just keeping track of them can be tricky. So let's delve in the records .... Year of the Monkey MS of 4 with 4 photographic labels attached 1.20 yuan each Chinese "Congratulations" character Labels show white-headed langur (Trachypithecus poliocephalus) and infants of species Another custom at New Year is to send gifts of money, and envelopes can be very decorative; below, the front has a "gold" 1980 stamp. |
