I need help identifying this stamp. It looks like Indonesia SN #428, 25 s. The color is not correct, shade of green not deep claret. Thanks.

Now we have this thread twice. Maybe a moderator can merge them.

I would have replied in the other thread, but it says "topic locked"

Scott is very inadequate when it comes to Indonesian stamps. It only lists 119 Vienna issues, whereas Prangko (the Indonesian catalog) lists several hundred varieties. My Prangko 2023 catalog says that this set was also produced imperf with gum, imperf without gum, on different paper, and also in different colors, namely the 10, 20 and 50 sen issues. The different color issues are valued at $470 to $890. It doesn't list your 25 sen stamp as having been issued in green, but a new find is always possible. New Indonesian revolutionary issues are still being found.

It could be a new find for Scott catalog and should be 450A then a new listing .

It could be a chemical change fake or a computer color change ,not sure until a Indonesia specialist studies it .

As laughable as LastDodo may be and as clueless as its catalgue managers and moderators maybe, I know the Indonesia listing was worked on by specialists who had specialised catalogues (not NVPH) for Indonesia.

If it is not in the listing, the odds are it is not a real stamp: i.e., it is either a fake or a changeling.

The reddish-brown of the 25 sen on the Last Dodo site could have been produced by mixing of green and red ink. Fading of the red by light in the ultraviolet part of the spectrum could produce this kind of khaki green.

I'd say that better evidence for Scott's inadequacy is listing any of the "Vienna" dross.

Scott and Michel list some of the Vienna issues. Gibbons and Y&T do not.
