If you have two models of the same stamp, example SC#530, and one of them does not have perforations on one side but has the joint line visible, if you can only choose one, which of the two is more desirable to put in the album?

First it is not a joint line as those only occur on coil stamp.

As to what you choose is up to you. Line indicates where to sever the printing sheet into the panes sold in the Post Office. For a pane of 100 stamps, there are 81 fully perforated stamps but only 19 with a natural straight edge. Thus stamps with a straight edge are less common. However for years no matter the centering a stamp with a straight edge was considered to grade only as "average," below, "fine," "very fine" and extremely fine, etc."

Most straight edged stamps are avoided by many collectors and reperfed by others. They are sold for much less and their resale is much less as compared to a similarly centered fully perforated stamp.

Again, it is your eye that makes the determination.

Edited for missing "is."
