I have hundreds of the 1901 - 1934 FMS Tiger Stamps and decided to do a specialized collection with shades, varieties so on so forth. I do have the SG Commonwealth and British Empire 1840-1952 catalog. I see that SG publishes a separate catalog for Brunei, Singapore and Malaysia. Is this just an excerpt of the Commonwealth and British Empire catalog or is it more specialized. Biggest reason I'm asking is that I'm creating my own album pages and need to know how many stamps are actually in each series, e.g. series or 1901, series of 1904 - 10, etc. I've seen lots of conflicting information on how many and what stamps comprised each series including shades and varities. Any info is much appreciated. Thanks!

I think that the 1840-1970 [sic] catalogue simply reproduces the material from the area catalogues. There are specialised local catalogues, which I haven't seen in the flesh.

I am not so sure they still publish catalogues. But the territory catalogues are the commonwealth & empire up to 1970 and then new issues added.

Yes, the SG Commonwealth and British Empire 1840-1970 catalogue (still often called "Part 1") is SG's main catalogue for these countries for issues up to 1970.

SG's other Commonwealth catalogues repeat the Part 1 listings for selected countries and extend these listings near to the publication date.

I think SG prefers to use the term "comprehensive" rather than "specialised" for all these catalogues.

As a company SG has been in trouble for many years but updated catalogues continue to appear regularly.

One recent addition has been a 2nd edition of their "Arabia" catalogue.

A new edition of SG Part 1 is released every year (as are new editions of "GB Concise", "Collect British Stamps" and their multi-volume simplified "Stamps of the World") but other countries or groups of countries receive new editions when SG decide there is enough demand.

Until recently, yes. However, the new SGB site does not appear to have a catalogue section and the SG website that has is a legacy site that is unresponsive with the range of catalogues listed rapidly shrinking. That makes me wonder whether they have ceased publishing catalogues.

The SG web site has been poor for many years and is now worse than ever although there is a note about a planned redesign. We'll see if anything better emerges.

Nevertheless, I did some digging there and found a link to this site:

although it just provides links back to the legacy site as you mentioned.
