Jerusalem 2010 Stamp Exhibition, An Overview.
2010 November 21, 22, 23, 24, 25
It has been announced that a Multinational Stamp Exhibition will take place at the Covention Centre in Jerusalem from Sunday November 21st until Thursday November 25th.
China,USA and Great Britain will be the other participants aside from Israel.
If anyone knows who the commissioner will be from China or the USA, I would like to know. please post here.

Having just read the rules and regulations, I was quite disturbed [as a Cinderella collector] to read the following:

"The sale of not officially recognized postal stamps is not allowed."

I hope this oversight does not detract from a great show.
I will be attempting to gather together a few folk to meet at the show. We had a nice time in 2008 and I hope we can encourage a few more this time.
If anyone is thinking of holidaying in Israel [I already know one Canadian] them make it November !

Israel Post have announced a number of new issues to coincide with the opening day of the Exhibition.

One or two will be special and some have the show logo.
Here is the link to the new issues.

The new Flag definitive is a very exciting issue for me although I was a bit disappointed the show Logo was not printed on the Generic sheet.

Overall, great designs and the Israel Animation sheet is possibly a unique concept in Stamps? Has anyone seen one before ?.

I wonder if it will be so popular as the 1963 Halbanon Sheet ?

So, if you collect individual usages of all of the animation stamps on cover, you should be able to flip through the stack of envelopes with your thumb and watch the movie...

Londonbus, I think that refers to illegal stamps produced with the name of legitimate countries, not cinderella's like exhibition lablels, easter seals, etc.

I think all FIP sanctioned shoes have this rule now.

Thanks for the clarification.
It was just the way it was worded. Sounded very 'Anti Cinderella' !

Here the Red Sea is parted and the Jews head towards the land of Milk and Honey [and Olives !].

If they'd gone the other way, they would have struck Oil and lived happily ever after.

You put your foot in it there didn't you !

Back to JERUSALEM 2010.

There are 5 cancels, one for each day. When I get decent scans I will post them.

Day 1. Israel Post day....Show logo and Israel Post logo.
Day 2. USA Day....The White House
Day 3. Great Britain Day....Big Ben and some Parliament buildings
Day 4. China Day....A dragon
Day 5. Jerusalem Day....David's Tower, Old City.

If anyone wants anything from the Exhibition just holler. Recent stamps, Cancels, Postcards, ATM's, Postage Labels etc. Happy to purchase should anyone want/need.

I will be going on Israel Post Day and will be meeting Mr Ralph Philips of GB Locals fame. I will, at last, be getting my CD catalogues for GB Locals, Strike Mail and JNF Labels.

Only 22 dealers though plus the Postal Admins and Society tables. I have heard that, as it's a Multinational event, stamps of Great Britain, USA and China will be available. I hope I can pick up a few GB pieces and some US Flags !

The day has arrived !
Tomorrow at Mid-day I will be knocking down the doors of the Jerusalem Convention Centre to get to the goodies first and check out the displays.

Last chance if anyone needs anything in Israel stamps or covers, let me know by tomorrow morning [saturday Midnight or thereabouts, board time]]

I'll take some pics of the show for those interested and post here Monday.

JERUSALEM 2010
One man's view of a Multinational Exhibition

Two days came and went, much like a long-awaited weekend away without the kids. It was all just too quick.
I arrived in Jerusalem after a long 3-hour journey by Bus and Car. I could see the Exhibition Centre across from the Bus Station but the walk there seemed to take forever as the new railway line [not yet opened] made for a Long and Winding Road. But at least I got a glimpse of the trains to be.

For a Multinational Exhibition, it was poorly signposted. I knew where to go and what to look for, but what about all those who did not, those from abroad, from the participating countries, USA,China and Great Briatin? They may have ended up walking to the Old City and looking at historical sites instead of historical stamps !

The first sign I saw was just a few metres from the entrance...and how dull and uninteresting that was. [I have a pic, but it was so dull I decided not to post it in case you fell asleep ]. No flags, No notice of the show no nothing.
Things got worse.
I arrived at 12.00 Noon because that was the time stated on all the websites including the show website. No. "We open at 1.00pm" said the hostess on the door. Cue anger from the waiting throng.
Next I was accosted by two strange-looking gentlemen [dare I call them that?] claiming to be friends of mine.

The one on the left told me he was Seahorse but I knew there was something fishy about him. The other one was a Local lad. They both tagged along though when finally we were allowed in. My first impression was that they were not organized.
They forgot to take the sign down for the special guests !

I told an organizer about their error but he just looked at me blankly. Or maybe he just thought I should be a Rep or delegate !

It was quiet but well lit and set out.

The displays were amazing. I thought of Laswabbie when I looked at some nice pieces.

Israel Post were busy selling all the new items...

But the 'Make-your-Own' stamp Booth was quiet. This seemed a little odd to me as the this was the only source of the New Definitive [Flag ] with right Phosphor Band [tagging]. I guess they didn't know eh?

For some rest in between all that Knee bending, walking and Stamp Chat there was always time to send greetings to your mates...

....or have a light snack......

...then you could always go and see things vexillological where the opening ceremony took place. Of course, us mere mortals were not allowed to that Grand opening but at least the Flags of the participating looked appropriate.

If you wanted some ATM's, then you could wait your turn at the 'Doarmat' machine for lovely Knesset or Christmas Labels. It seemed that it was broken down much of the time

All in all, it was a nice two days. When I left and looked back, it seemd, somehow, better than it had done earlier.

Even the entrance was worth showing !

Londonbus1......Until the next Exhibition.
