This was posted by me on 01/12/2012 Page 55 but the photobucket images are no longer there,
therefore I will repost ,this time storing the the pics here on SCF under the forum maximum of 200kb.

Yes nethryk it will be fun having someone on the site as knowledgeable as Florian concerning printing processes.

And here are some more from the annual Czechoslovakia Art series.

Engravers : Milos Ondracek (1.60k, 3k), Jan Mracek (2k)
Jindra Schmidt (3.60k), Bedrich Housa (5k)

Print process : 100% engraving no photo or offset added.

Czechoslovakia
Scott 2265 - 2269 1979

Looking at the yellow background on the stamp above it does
almost appear a solid colour possible printed either photogravure
or offset.
But as Florian has pointed out this is achieved using "thinner" colours and engraving faint lines diagonally as can be seen below.

Lithograving...thanks for posting the Art series stamps. Both France and Czechoslovakia have issued some magnificent stamps reproducing works of art.

Thanks jjarmstrong47, I was thinking that it was him
when I looked at Scott B651 1959 on page 29 but de Vos signed different then.
He did not put the d into the V yet

BTW I agree with what you said about the British Guiana.
She is certainly no beauty.
And that is what I love about engraved stamps.
You can buy up any number of lets say Austrian or Czechoslovakian
exquisitely engraved stamps for minimum catalogue value.

I look at those Martin Morck stamps and am reminded what a tragedy it is that Sweden are no longer engraving stamps. There may be good? economic reasons for simply sticking a number on a photo and churning them out but as Czechoslovakia (and the new republics) has shown, you can reflect your national pride in your stamps and still be economical. I guess Sweden still gave us around sixty years more than my country, Australia did. To put that into perspective, if Slania had migrated to Australia rather than Sweden, he would have just got settled in before being out of a job. Maybe the glass is half full, after all.

Here's some new additions to my Georges Bétemps collection:

1964 France Europa colour proofs

1947 Cameroun airmail die proof

One of the dealers sent me this beautiful card along, as a little freebee. Engraved (and printed in intaglio/recess!) by Albert Decaris. Needless to say I'll be keeping them on my books! And with apologies about the postmark of course, but it can't be helped.

Hallo lithograving
hallo graphis,

Thank's for your welcome.

I have been reading here for a long time
and have already gotten a lot of useful information.
As far as I can give information on my part
I will do that in the future.

The information about the Belgian stamps I found here:
http://www.belgianstamps.eu/belgian3.html

Best regards

Wolfgang

Wolfgang (Cicero) thanks for the link to the Belgian
site, lots of good information.

I have a question though regarding the names used for
the printing process.

Ok Steeldeepprint is steel/recess/intaglio engraved printing.

But what is the difference between lets say

Screendeepprint/Heliogravure number: 2690-2691
and
Rasterdiepdruk number : 1929

given that Heliogravure = photogravure

In Scott those numbers above are listed as photogravure, same in
Michel: RaTdr. = Rastertiefdruck or Rakeltiefdruck = photogravure

AKPhilately Adrian that is some real nice stuff you keep on
showing even though I have to admit I'm no Decaris fan.

If I were 30 years younger and had your money I would love
to start a collection of die proofs and colour trials.
