lithograving:
There is no difference between the two Belgian sets you mention, they are both printed in rasterdiepdruk/heliogravure/photogravure. The difference in the English names is probably just a Belgian person getting his translations wrong every now and then.
As for the proofs: yes, some can be very expensive and, don't worry, most are out of my reach as well, but if you keep looking long and hard enough, there's always bargains to be had, because the demand for them is fairly limited so offers can be had and deals can be made!

I've tried that as well, but it hasn't worked so far.... |

graphis I've been buying lottery tickets for over 50 years but all I ever get is free tickets. Actually if I would have spent all that money on stamps I would have a nice collection now. |

Martin Mörck has engraved a number of 'Greenland Expeditions' issues, of which this is the 2012 instalment. When you just see a picture of it, as I did, you could be forgiven for thinking it is completely engraved, as I did. Especially when SG states it is mentioned in recess only. Unfortunately, it is only the stamp portrait which is engraved, which is great enough, I grant you, but still... |

AKPhilately When I saw your post showing the Martin Mörck Greenland 2012 souvenir sheet I thought this guy has been around quite awhile. Therefore I checked your excellent blog and sure enough Martin Mörck engraved his first stamps for the Swedish Post Office Stamp Printing Works in 1977 when he was only 22 years old. http://stampengravers.blogspot.ca/2...-martin.htmlAnd sadly his last for Sweden in 2016. Scott 1212 1977 Tawny Owl Martin Mörck also engraved 2 stamps in this booklet set. The other 3 were engraved by Zlato JakusScott 1220 - 1224 100 Years Local Transportation. 1977 I'm not too crazy about those light blue colours used for the Mörck stamps. |

jjarmstrong47 said a few post back Quote: if Slania had migrated to Australia rather than Sweden, he would have just got settled in before being out of a job Actually the story goes that Slania was getting so frustrated that he was wasn't hired on at the Swedish Post Stamp Printing Works that he was prepared to immigrate to Canada to engrave for the Canadian Bank Note Co. Sweden already had the master engraver Sven Ewert and Arne Wallhorn but when Ewert died suddenly in 1959 Slania finally got his chance. |

Hi Graphis The two violinists that you show above feature in my thematic collection on violins. You might be interested in these notes about the subjects of the stamps.
Ole Bull (1810-1880) was a Norwegian virtuoso and composer. During his career, which began at age nine, he gave thousands of concerts including 274 in Britain alone in 1837. This allowed him to amass a fortune and he became a collector of Stradivarius, Amati and other fine violins. He played a Guarneri del Gesù.
Targjei Augundsson (1801-1872) was a legendary Norwegian folk musician who travelled all over Norway. He became friends with Ole Bull and they even performed a concert together, contrasting the classical and rural styles. He had ten children of which four became fiddlers and carried his music on. Unfortunately, he had no control over money and died a pauper.

lithograving: yes, he has been at it for ages. I believe he is the engraver with the most stamp engravings to his name. Living, that is. He hasn't broken Slania's record yet. |

Quote: I'm not too crazy about those light blue colours used for the Mörck stamps. Odd, I was thinking just the opposite -- to me, they seem to jump off the page.
Good or bad, no debating that it is an unusual color choice.
