Croatia..detail of Souvenir sheet 1943
Scott B40
Engraved by Karl Seizinger
Did a search on him and found an incredible link on the history of this stamp issue and engraving. It's incredibly extensive with lots of images. The link is posted under this image.

graphis, that Croatia SS is a real masterpiece, congrats on your
acquisition.

Karl Seizinger has to be one of the most important stamp engravers
of all time and right up there with Slania.

I remember looking enviously at that SS in the catalogue when I was a kid but in those days I didn't have the funds.
The only Seizinger's I have are a few he engraved for pre-war Czechoslovakia.

Check out page 44 of this thread were I have posted some
of Seizinger's Czechoslovakian stamps which show his
hidden initial.

For the 1987 Christmas stamp Austria finally picked a more secular
theme, the carol Silent Night, Holy Night first performed
in a small village church in Salzburg on Christmas Eve 1918.
It pictures the priest Father Joseph Mohr (1792 - 1848) who wrote the lyrics and Franz Gruber (1787 - 1863)
schoolmaster and organist who composed the melody.

I found this imperforate stamp/label/Cinderella ? in my grandfather's old album.

It is very similar to 2 stamps issued in 1952, Michel 688, 690
engraved by B. Roule except this one has as you can see the inscription
OSTRAVA 67 and other Czech writing.

Florian, I could use your help on this one.
