Nethryk - I am delighted to be corrected regarding "Ham". I have looked at several on-line references and not one mentions that she was ever an engraver. Clearly she was not. I wonder, therefore, if Finnish engraver Birger Ekholm also engraved the testing label die of Ham's artwork? We may never know.

I have tracked down Volume 16, issue 9, page 4 of LUREN (circa 1984), which states: "...Just prior to Signe Hammarston-Jannson's retirement, she was asked (possibly by Finland's Bank printing plant) to produce a design for a new printing process - photogravure. As a practise work she drew a portrait of the Finnish philosopher and statesman J V Snellman. This portrait was later used by Aarne Karjalainen in his design for Snellman's birth anniversary."

Lithograving - I think you are right regarding the English translation of the German, and therefore the likely use of the Maschinprobe dies. Thank you.

Anders Leonard Zorn (1860-1920) was one of Sweden's foremost artists; he achieved international success as a painter, sculptor and print maker in etching. Here is an image of a stamp depicting Zorn, designed after an etched self-portrait, 1904, with text by Arne Wallhorn, engraved by Czeslaw Slania, and issued by Sweden on February 16, 1960 to commemorate Zorn's birth centenary, Scott No. 550, Facit No. 509.
Note: This was the first stamp which Czeslaw Slania engraved for Sweden. Bonus: Signature.

The Château de Rosny-sur-Seine is a château in the Louis XIII style, situated in Yvelines, France. Here is an image of a stamp depicting the château, designed and engraved by Albert Decaris, and issued by France on March 21, 1981, Scott No. 1731, Y&T No. 2135. Unfortunately, the château has sustained severe degradation since the time that this stamp was issued; major renovations are reportedly now underway.

On the card is written 1 washed up modeled photo drawing 1

What would that be referring to?
