just for a point of refence: The cost of a Booth at the NYC Show 2016 was around $25,000 for the show (per a Dealer from Long Island NY.) So given the 10-year span between shows, & the state of the economy since 2018 (SLOW RECOVERY FROM COVID), & the Boson affect, that pricing would be reasonable & sharing a booth is very viable option and for a single vendor very expensive. BTW: That Dealer had a Very good show, so I am guessing he ended up on the plus side.
I suspect that as the Dealers stride into the SUNSET, these shows the International & even the annual locals will become less dealer attended. This is a drastic market turn, and one would suspect a diminishing venue for selling off stock volumes or leaving these stocks to heirs (who have no idea how to dispose of or want to carry the business) or larger dealers (like Mystic or Subway) to purchase low & sell high.
I am at the end of my annual collection activity and shows and turning to the on-line vendors for filling in the spaces. My heirs will salvage whatever value they can, pay whatever taxes (although I think my net will be less than the purchase $$).
2 months to go, looking forward to taking in the WHOLE show. Looking to score some big items. Just need to keep preparing. |

You can tack on $1000 or more to have the mandatory union labor bring your goods to the table. No way around it. And of course, the reverse trip at the end will also cost the same. And bring some Bengamin's for the tips. |

amazingly, I cannot find the actual hours of the show anywhere on the website. I would love to know when the show ends on May 30 so I can set up transportation properly. Seems stupid not to have that info, they have everything else. |

Look for "ADDITIONAL SHOW REVENUE" heading. } Actual booth cost are shown below.Your dealer friend was not address booth costs, likely total costs. Travel costs from Long Island to New York City , if one lives on the section of Long Island which is itself not already part of NYC, those travel expensive must be crushing. Last I check, I did not find Boston 2026 sold out as booth space is still available. By count, 114 dealer plan to attend with 17 of that number only attending for 1/2 show. That translates to 106 dealer tables occupied during the full show. That is down from 180 dealers in 2006. Below is the booth pricing for both Boston 2026 and followed by NYC 2006. The "basic" booth price jumped by 522%, from NYC's $1150 to $6000 in Boston's low rent show streets. This does not include, more than half the total booths which price in the $7000 to $59,000 individual booths. 2026 Distribution plan (number and types) 2026 Booth Costs NYC 2016 |

I grew up at the 2 cent tables at Compex and other stamp shows . |

It wouldn't shock me to learn that the facility is a union shop, which may mean that you can add on load-in $, load-out $ and assembly/maintenance charges to your booth fee?
I'm "sad" to see the amount of the fees being charged to societies. I suppose a fat cat angel may be willing to cover the fee, but that can't be a given for a number of smaller groups.

Quote: competitive exhibitors rub shoulders. The social aspect of these shows is very important to some attendees. Thus why the Palmares (Awards) Dinner is Black Tie. However if your award is below Large Gold level you can receive it in person at a ceremory separate from the Palmares Dinner. |

Parcel - where did you get the 2016 NY booth rates? They don't look right to me, they look like the rates I would expect for the 4 day APS shows (where they do have dollar booths), not a long show in NYC. |

I wrote this very thing six hours before your comment. Must have not read it. Bet on it. My wife used to do trade shows at this venue and in NYC and Chicago. The union "helped" at an extreme cost for service rendered and you better tip. Also a TON of fun with getting your vehicle through the process. Bring vodka because you will need it. |

Eye- I ran a google search as I showed, "booth costs at NYC 2016 stamp expo" and then tried to disprove the return. If Wade did not die a couple of months back, I would have contacted him. I was reacting to the post by eligies. My real point was, first booth costs went up but all other costs dwarf the booth outlay. Then citing a dealer who was local say it was $25,000 for him in 2016 so today's $30,000 seems okay. (Heck that is just 60 $1000 stamps, and all gravy after that, right? ) The dealer who caused the comment, A to Z has a stock which must be driven with that being a four day road trip each way from Tempe, AZ. |
