Thanks. Your right. I do spell his name right on occasion, but not today obviously :) - I guess my dyslexia is coming out again :)

Not surprising that you wouldn't recognize him...that isn't a recent picture. (I think it is from his match.com profile.)

Hi Marc,
Russian, identified by a typical "CCCP"
6 Kopek value.
Russian stamps have a consistant style like this
in a lot of their issues, not sure how to describe it,
straight and to the point, not much background interference.

What scanner are you employing? and what software?
your scans are excellent
looks like Epson Seiko software

Thanks Rod. I would have loved the stamp if he had his eyes open or showing a bit more emotion. As you said though, that is the no nonsense style of the Russians.

I am not using a scanner by the way. Most of my stamp images are photographs. Cheers..

Ah! I see, so you would beat me on quality,
and I would have you on speed :)

The real test is when you image a "used" stamp,
your route would pick up every misplaced hair.

You are right Rod. I am using a 16Mp camera and a macro lens so there is more detail than is wanted at times. Each photos is about a 15 minute retouch to clean up all the dust and imperfections.

Perfection over speed

Here is another one from the UK. Poor print quality, but nice emotion:
