It looks like a Crown over A.

Thank you :) I found another way of telling which WM it was, which is the curl test .. perfect.

What is the curl test for detecting watermarks?

The big-mouth Aussie from the other forum has this to say (scroll to the section "paper CURL is te key"):

https://www.glenstephens.com/snnovember20.html

A bit like some East German watermarks.

From the unfocused picture that causes a headache, I would say OP's stamp is type 2 wmk. And if I read the page correctly, it would curl along the vertical grain of the paper.

Very hard to see, but my initial vote would be for Type 1, the first watermark. I would think viewing it in watermark fluid would help you determine the watermark also, but apparently still difficult.

But, of course, my books say that the large OS is only on the first watermark.

Thank you Partime :)
I did read, because of damage issues, with the Large OS it was quickly replaced by the "Small OS" perfin after only a few months, making the Large OS primarily a First Watermark issue.

I only have Gibbons with me right now, but this should be your watermark:

Sadly, the world being full of jerks, the first question with these is, "are my punctures okay?"

Get some good magnification and see if the cancel ink wept into the holes, or if it looks like the punctures came after the cancel.

I'm sure someone else will be along with more information shortly, but if not, I'll be rejoined with more of my library in a handful of days.

Many Thanks Cjd :)
Yes I do think it is that watermark. :)
Unfortunately the perfin has taken out the bar across the top of the WM. ! which is why I was having trouble viewing it.
The perfin seem nice and clean no ink that I can see.
