Hi all I had a quick question about Coil stamps vs regular 4 side perforations on precancel stamps. Should coil precancel stamps be considered different from regular precancel stamps? Or it doesn't matter because the classification just goes by style printed on the stamp?
sure. nature of the beast. we have sheets, coils, booklets as issues, the variation would be a pre-cancel sheet, precancel coil. (does anyone know of pre-cancelled booklets?) There are also 'over-prints both value & country or city. all variations of an issue. I would suspect most bulk, non-profit or other large mailing issues would be determined to be pre-cancel, especially if used for pre-sort to by-pass certain processing operations & not receive a cancellation but routed directly to state, city or carrier route.
The only reason I was asking is that many precancel stamps have different formats (coil, sheet, Etc) But if you look at the Precancel Stamp Society website albums there is no distinct spot for sheet, coil, or other. It's just the one example based on the style chart.
