Thanks Eye.

Italian covers seems a bit niche for a general thief. I ask because I am always curious about what motivates people to do bad things. At least the food and beverage prices are legal theft.

$10 for a small slice of pizza. $4 for a small bag of potato chips. $4 for a 20oz coke. I haven't had any of the other foods. Food in Boston is pretty comparable to New York in the local places, but this is a tourist area (Seaport).

Yawn. Some people look for any excuse to knock down cities. I am sure that those were not the only words that the mayor said at the time.

"My condolences, and all of our thoughts, are with the family of the individual whose life has been lost," Wu said.

Mayor Wu said those words and never denied it. No need to distract from news about the Stamp Show, but also no need to try to misrepresent what actually happened, gvol21.

Sorry, but I'm not misrepresenting. The mayor never apologized to the criminal as was suggested here; she offered condolences to the family of the attacker because he was shot and killed by an off-duty cop. Thanks to the officer, nobody else was injured. Condolences to the family of the guy who was killed are not an apology to him. I'm not defending the Mayor's words or actions, just trying to set the record straight.

Her actual quote: "My condolences and all of our thoughts are with the family of the individual whose life has been lost, and I'm also thinking of all the people who were impacted here today in one of the busier parts of the city with this tragedy. I'm glad the officer is safe and very grateful for a quick response from all of our first responders here again in such an active part of Boston." https://www.cbsnews.com/boston/news...explanation/

I know we're trying to get this back on stamps and the show, but as I was told I was "misrepresenting" what happened, I think I should be allowed to set the record straight and provide the actual quote here. Nobody was "apologizing to the criminal for their police action."

Do Siegel and Kelleher have their high dollar items displayed?

Siegel has some very convincing looking replicas under glass for the really high-end stuff. I'm sure the goods are locked up somewhere well beyond the reach of the public.

I see Kelleher brought a few inverted JENNY'S ,hopefully to sell at around $450,000 to $750,000 for a beautiful stamp . I was showing the wife online the stamps . She had to say "that stamp would cost a new buyer around $25,000 a year in lost interest on their CD's , " That was like taking a cold shower .

How many dealers are there?

I heard that it is expensive to rent a booth there so not too many registered.

5 inverted Jenny's to be exact...

Those items are also listed on stamp auction network under "Boston 2026 World Expo Bespoke Private Offerings"

Worth a look... full sheets of US Columbians up to $1 denomination, amazing!

5 inverted Jenny's? Wow
Are they flooding the market?
I thought perhaps 1-3 a year pop up in auctions.
5 in one month? That's a lot

Kelleher brought 5; Siegel is selling one this week. The plate number block is on exhibit along with two singles.

Opening ceremony remarks by the PMG were interesting because he tried to sell the idea of the USPS issuing stamps w living people on them. He did so by talking about commemorating US Olympic gold medal winners ala NZ, Australia. Most of the people w whom I've spoken view it as a way to open the door for a sitting US president to get his mug [shot] on the face of US postage stamp.

Not that there's anything wrong with that.

While I'd love to bash my local and state government, I'm here for INFO and don't' want another thread locked:

1) is the USPS applying special show cancels to regular mail?
IF SO,
2) will they accept outgoing mail at the show?
3) for First Day events, will they accept is as regular outgoing mail after applying a cancel on someone's envelope?

I haven't been planning my trip tomorrow very well, as I have almost NO clue how world shows work.

PS: I have NEVER agreed with living people on US postage (regardless of who is president)

I can't imagine why there would be a need to expand allowable subject matter to living people. We made it this far without doing so. He should be focused on returning to revenue neutral and getting the mail delivered on time.

Attended the show yesterday. 3 hour drive from upstate NY so will probably be the only day I will attend. Was zero traffic on a rainy Sunday morning, drove thru the i90 tunnel all the way to exit 135 at 55 miles an hour, would have been a nightmare during a regular weekday. Was parked by 9:40 ($35), easy registration and was on line to get in when the doors opened. I would have liked to have attended some of the presentations and talks but I never really broke away from the show floor. If I had multiple days I could have timed things differently. Of course I spent some of my day on the dealer bourse. A lot of material was above my paygrade and to be expected for an international show. There were bargains to be found for those looking. One booth had US sheets for face but I did not purchase anything there. Another booth was all covers, $5 each. That booth was filled all day, could barely get a chair. I looked thru a couple of boxes of Germany material but would consider all the covers he had $1-2 covers. I did buy a US c18 and some Saar and Italy material from a dealer I often buy from. Was nice meeting him in person. I probably spent an hour looking thru the 6 million free stamps. The free tables were packed all day and it wasn't necessarily just junk, there was usable material if you were willing to look. It was a bit addicting just sorting thru piles and piles of stamps. I also spent a couple of hours looking at exhibits. The court of honor area is a must see. I will post some pictures below. I also found an exhibit area that had US airmail, rocket mail, Zeppelin mail, Lindburgh mail, etc that I found interesting. Overall I was probably able to look at 2% of the exhibits. Would need a week just to do that. Lunch was expensive, $17 for some chicken tenders and fries, $4 for a bottle of Coke. But that really isn't outrageous for people that attend sporting events, or go to theme parks. Is what it is. I did get to meet Ken who posts stamp collecting content on youtube and his Spellman associate in their booth, very nice gentlemen to chat with. I met at least two people from the UK so international visitors are coming. There were lots of young people, not just kids but in the 20-40 range. They may not have been hanging out in the stodgy sections of the dealer bourse but they were attending. Overall a fun day, worth it if you can make it.
