This really has me stumped. I cannot any similar marked items using Google. Not that they don't exist, but google is not finding any.

The other significant thing is it seems to be from a woman. "Alphonsine" (The distinctly feminine form of "Alphonse"

English Translation

December 30, 1915

My Dear Godmother,

I send you my best wishes for the New Year, as well as to your husband and your children.
I hope, dear godmother, that nothing bad has happened to you.
I have not had any news from you since December 1st.
And I hope that you have received the letter that I sent you 3 weeks ago.
The package that you announced to me on 12-1-1915 has not arrived, probably it is lost.
I finish, dear godmother, by sending you my most sincere wishes.

Your God Child,
Alphonsine

It is a Franchise Militaire letter card. Prepaid because sent by soldeir. The letter was sent to a Paris address.147 rue de la Pompe Someone put a forwarding address in New York, franking the card with the 3 stamps. The blue markings (Griffe) in french, may of been applied by the postman or at the Paris post office sorting.

Thanks, I did not realize the first address was there. I haven't been able to find any other covers with the censor seal on it. There are the "free franking" postcards, but they don't have the censor seal. I wonder if when it was forwarded to the US it was then sent through the censor ?
