The Cathedral of Santiago de Compostela, which is located in Galicia, Spain, is the destination today, as it has been for over a thousand years, of the important 9th century medieval pilgrimage route, the Way of St. James. Here is an image of an engraved stamp depicting an old map of the Rutas Jacobeas, the main European pilgrimage routes, issued by Spain in 1971 as one of a set of 21 stamps celebrating the Holy Year of Compostela, Scott No. 1642.
