Another space oldie: Cosmonaut Yuri Gagarin in helmet and rocket over the Kremlin, printed by lithogravure, and issued by the USSR (Russia) in April 1961, Scott No. 2465. Great design!

The Soviets issued this SS also in 1973 for the 10th Anniversary
of the first woman in space, Valentina Vladimirovna Tereshkova.

Here is an image of a space stamp designed by Hungarian artist Adam Cziglenyi, printed by photogravure, and issued by Hungary on September 24, 1959 to publicize the USSR's successful Lunik 2 Moon mission, Scott No. 1262. Note Cziglenyi's imaginative inclusion of Jupiter and Saturn in the design!

A few from my Russia collection - I have lots of Russian stamps and their space stamps were one of the reasons I was first drawn to collect their stamps.

I have picked up a bunch of Spacelab covers recently. Pretty nice.

And I have always wanted a set of the Star Wars stamps.

The Diamant rocket (diamant is French for "diamond") was the first exclusively French expendable launch system and at the same time the first satellite launcher not built by either the USA or USSR. Here is an image of a stamp depicting a Diamant B rocket, a radar tracking unit and a satellite, designed and engraved by Jacques Combet, and issued by France on March 28, 1970 to commemorate the rocket's successful launch on March 10, 1970 from a site in Kourou, French Guiana, Scott No. 1270, Y&T No. 1635.

Can't believe there's only one Canadian stamp in twelve pages.

Here's the rest.

Enjoy!

This intrepid 1961 Czech astronaut was apparently planning to dispense with such details as a spacecraft. Such was the optimism of early 1960's Soviet bloc I guess. The Czech inscription in his meteoric wake translates as "Conquest of Space by Men".
