France issued one of those booklets of 12 stamps on one topic last year, this time featuring important grains grown the world over. Corn/maize was photographed in the field at the level of the ripe cobs. The cover tells you how many stamps are needed for each weight class of letter.

Corn/maize is an important crop on the Cape Verde Islands; a dish called cachupa has lots of corn in it. Or corn meal is prepared for bread, etc.

The Soviet Union issued a stamp in 1961 showing the tilling of corn. At that time, 1960s, the Ukraine was the major producer; nowadays Russia grows less than the Ukraine which has a climate better for corn.
