Barbara McClintock (1902-1992) received the Nobel Prize (1983), among many other prizes, for her discoveries in genetics using corn as the organism of choice. Her groundbreaking findings on chromosomes are the basis of cytogenetics today.

There is a small pile of popped corn that has just come out of the popping pan in the wagon, it just needs some butter and salt to be irresistible. note 16.7 cents for bulk rate, 1988 (Was the corn called 'roasted' way back then?)
