Managing Your Needs/Wants List

I was at a show yesterday and despite my best efforts ahead of time, I realized I did not have a very good "needs" list with me and I was getting a little bit random in my search through material. I had gone through and listed the holes in a few of my album pages but I really need a more permanent and ongoing approach to this list. What do other forum members do to update a workable needs list.
