Folke Bernadotte, Count of Wisborg (1895-1948) was a Swedish diplomat and nobleman noted for his negotiation, as vice-president of the Swedish Red Cross, of the release of some 31,000 prisoners from German concentration camps during World War II. Here is an image of a stamp depicting Count Bernadotte and a couple of Red Cross evacuation vehicles, designed by Swedish artist Björn Brusewitz (1948- ), engraved by Majvor Franzén-Matthews, and issued by Sweden on August 10, 1987, Scott No. 1645, Facit No. 1462, plus a photo of the count. - nethryk  |

 The battle of Solferino was an important event that contributed to the formation of the Red Cross. Hungary produced this sheet in 1989 from a painting by Carlo Bossini called La battaglia di Solferino. Unfortunately they didn't really get the stamp sheet right. |
