Well, if they got to Londonbus in Israel, and were checked by Customs on the way out, the problem can't be in the US. Now, both packages going missing is strange, but since the second one was sent about 2 weeks ago, I'll put it in the "disappeared" category mid next week if it doesn't get here.
And the crap that gets through customs in this country shows they wouldn't stop this delivery either.
I'm going to go with incompetence here. Nevertheless, I've now forwarded my emails to the customs section (to where the complaints department sent my inquiry). Hopefully I'll receive some news. If not, I have 2 fee days coming soon and I might take a few hours one morning to head downtown to the customs office to piss them off! |

Well, my first contact with the Customs gave me a package number for the September package. It seems it was assigned a number by the customs office since it made a pit-stop there (Sept. 23). However, it apparently left customs without any trouble and was delivered.... to whom I don't know. I am waiting for more information. I'm still trying to understand how they found this one. Because if they based it on my name and address, then, for sure, everything went right on your side Kirk. Remains to be discovered what happened to the package when it left the customs office on Sept. 28.
No sign of the October package though.
We need some detectives. This is going to be harder to solve then the Jack the Ripper mystery! |

Indeed we did and it was correct. The first package must have been delivered to the wrong house perhaps. Mailman was drunk!
However... *drum roll* .... the 2nd package got here today! Woohoo!
I'll have some reading material for the next few days.
No doubt, it's better I never subscribe to this newsletter as half of them would get lost on the way here!
I will keep hounding the post office to find out what's happened to package no. 1, but at least I now have some newsletters to keep me entertained. Thanks!
Kirk, I just noticed: you forgot the "ESQ" on the line with "14 R/C". Basically, ESQ is Esquerdo, or Left. The worst that could have done is deliver the package to my neighbors, with whom I have good relations so I presume they'd recognize this and give us the package.... I hope! |

I was some anxious by the time I got to the end of this thread. Didn't the singer Meatloaf have a song with a famous line in it like "one out of two ain't bad"? I guess the other package didn't arrive or we would have heard. My reason for responding is a couple of months ago I threw out a filing cabinet drawer of Canada Stamp News that were decades old after seeing part of a TV program about "hoarders". I went on a bit of a tear after that and they were some of the things I pitched into the recycling bin. I kept one for whatever reason and I re-read it last week and it hit me that there were absolutely excellent, well-researched articles in them even given the dealer stuff, in fact, even some of the dealer stuff was interesting. Their historical value was immense but sometimes you just have to bite the bullet because they certainly would have been gone "when l leave this world" (a quote from an old song too I think). |

Andrew, I somehow missed your post of 2 November! I'm glad Cynical and LB resurrected the thread and I'm delighted that you received at least some of the CSNs. I'm pretty sure I copied/pasted your address, so I'm not sure what happened to the missing ESQ. By the way, in my neck of the woods, ESQ is Esquire, which typically means you're a lawyer . Or perhaps a man of "high but indeterminate social status." Kirk |

Indeed, 1 package is better then none.
The missing ESQ wouldn't have been enough for it not to get here. Unless, of course, a neighbor kept it when it was put in the mailbox. However, my first name being english in a Portuguese city, is uncommon, and I do get a lot of packages so the postman would recognize it I'd hope.
Had no idea ESQ was the abbreviation of esquire. Funnily enough I studied law in University. Your quote fits lawyers perfectly. You never know if they're scum or just bags :-D |

Andrew: your discussion re "esquire" and its abbreviation "Esq." prompted me to post my favourite esquire cover (not to be confused with the magazine of the same name). The 3c queen is postmarked 1895. Deseronto has a significant military history and The Rathbun Company was a significant player in the economy of the region. Wiki gives it great coverage and shows a picture of their beautiful post office and town hall. In case it doesn't show up very well Aubrey White Esq. was the Assistant Commissioner of Crown Lands at the time. https://www.stampcommunity.org/uplo...eseronto.JPG |

Anyone considering a subscription to CSN needs to be aware of the horrific issues with delivery of periodicals by Canada Post. I paid for a sub this past Fall. By now I ought to have received six issues, to date just three have made it. I live in the US Midwest. Their staff is I am sure sick of me by now. In reply to my last complaint I was offered a refund on my sub less the six issues AND a $10 'service fee.' $3.00 total. It'sw a nice publication when you can get it, which I think is about half the time. |

Well now that you mention it, I got one today.
I didn't get the last issue, but did get about 8 in a row before that.

What tees me off is that they have my money and just dont seem to care if I get their paper or not. They told me to file a complaint with the post office. Some years ago I wasn't getting my Linn's- once I reported they filed the report for me and extended my sub to cover the missing issues. They insist the problem isn't on their side, they have the US bound issues trucked to Buffalo and mailed there. So, where do they go? I will not be resubscribing. |

Here's the kicker for you. I posted (on Jan 3) that I had received Vol 35 No 18. Today (Jan 7), I received Vol 35 No 17 But seriously, better late than never -- I'm just glad I got it! KirkS |

The last one I got was Vol 35 #14! CSN insists there is no problem and seems to want me to accept that. They told me to contact my post office, turns out there is no way for me to file a com plaint, that kis CSN's job. I explained the situation to a nasty postal worker who kept trying to shut her window on me- this is a company in Canada, they don't have access to USPS forms, etc. No deal, they wouldn't help me. So now I am reduced to begging CSN for replacement copies or a cancellation of my sub with partial refund (they want to deduct $10 as a penalty for early cancellation.) If you guessed I am feeling like I have been had, you're right. It's a fine publication. Their customer service and delivery system sucks. Sorry. |
