Does anyone know why there was confusion over the date of birth of this gentleman? Did the confusion occur first and was cleared up, or was the date printed and then disputed? Its a strange one!

First printed (1954) and then disputed. The "?" printing was in 1961.

I wonder if they will reissue it when they can confirm the year of his birth?

I initially assumed the questionmark version came first, but of course, facts can be disputed. Maybe they'll/we'll never know...

Most governments won't bother correcting these type of errors. It's even more surprising to see them correct it by putting in a question mark!
