Do you know if a very thick Belgique stamp like that is common. No perf. On back it is write something. Probably from postcard or revenue... I don't know.
That would seem to be a postcard 'cut square' or the stamp portion cut out in a roughly square shape (rectangular here) in order to preserve the stamp and cancel.
That would be apposed to 'cut to shape' where the stamp impression on the postcard or envelope is cut out along the lines of the shape of the stamp impression. That happened with older stamps embossed into the envelope a lot, that were in the shape of an oval or circle.
