Paramedic Or Ems Stamp?

I have been a paramedic for 29 yrs and love medicine. I found a few medical type stamps, but the only stamp I found with anything to do with EMS is an old wagon type ambulance.
Does anyone know of any others? I would love to collect all the medical stamps, b ut especially those to do with EMS.

not sure if these are but I know I have some but my laptop has caught a bug or worm or whatever it is that messes up your computer and thats where I scan from im using my mini laptop now I knew I bought this 2 weeks ago for a reason have to work all day tomorrow so hopefully tomorrow evening I can go to my computer guys house my saviors

Canada Post issued a Dangerous Occupations issue iin the early 1990s. There is one 40-cent stamp with fire trucks and an ambulance on it.

The stamp David is referring to is Canada #1333a in the Scott catalog and shown below (not in Scott order).

There are many stamps that depict/commemorate emergency medical services. However, those that show an actual ambulance are few in number. I assume you already have the US stamp (#2128) from the Transportation Series. Sorry I don't have scans of them all, but here are a few more showing ambulances (Scott catalog numbers)...


Australia 1602-1605 (I think #1605 shows the back end of the ambulance?

Alderney 239-244 (27c stamp shows the ambulance)


Norfolk Island 534-537 (536 75c stamp shows ambulance, sorry I don't have a scan of that stamp)


St. Helena 641-644 (644 60p stamp shows ambulance, sorry I don't have a scan of that stamp)

This list is not comprehensive, but just to let you know what to look for.

There are a other stamps that commemorate EMS but don't show ambulances. Now here's a "fun" one. The EMS doesn't stand for Emergency Medical Services; rather Express Mail Service!

You may want to try the American Topical Association or ATA website. They have handbooks & checklists for a lot of different topics. I would think there would be one for the medical field. Good luck building your collection.

Why 8.3c? What was that used for?

It was at that time the bulk rate stamp for large volume mailings that had been pre-sorted by carrier route. In this case, the precancel notation helps to explain the rate. Later on USPS produced the non-denominated Eagle/Shield bulk rate stamps because of the ever-changing bulk rate, but also so that the public would not know exactly how much lower rate the mass mailers were paying.
