Thanks. Now you've really sparked my interest. First, I would have had no idea to even search for a "Nunda", NY as I had never heard of the town. Anyway, I went to the PSS Town and Type album pages and they don't even have a listing for a precancel from that community.

Usually, if you have something that isn't listed in a precancel catalogue, the chances are good that you have a "post-cancel". See this article, particularly the section titled "DISTINGUISHING PRECANCELS FROM POST-CANCELS".
Nunda NY is right down the road from Rochester here. This cancel is not in the PSS-catalog because it is a postcancel, not a precancel. The is a VERY short list of precancels that do not fit on vertical formated small definitive stamps. This one is too wide - it is probably a box cancel where the right and left lines of the box remained on the parcel.
