Just wanted to say "Hi" from Georgia, U.S.A.

I just discovered SCF and registered today after searching for over 3 weeks to find some credible information on the stamps that I want to sell, and find it mind boggling to say the least. SCF seems to be comprised of knowledgeable, honest and helpful people so I will feel comfortable with any feedback I get.

It is not my intention to "use" SCF for my own monetary gain, (although in a way I am) but I want to broaden my knowledge of the stamps that I have so that I can offer these at fair and attractive prices to a collector. Maybe some SCF members will be beneficiaries as a result of my efforts.

Thanks in advance for any help, and good luck to all with your collections.

lancsman

Hi, welcome to the forum.

You haven't said whether your stamps are U.S. only or worldwide.

The best way to get an "idea" of what your stamps may be worth would be to find a Scotts catalog. The best place for that would be your Public Library.

Post your pictures of your stamps and we will try to help you.

I agree with what Butch said.
But even better would be to start collecting and forget about selling !
Then you won't have to worry about getting to 50 posts, and I won't feel that my is wasted !

Have fun either way

Welcome, Lancsman.

If you stick around the SCF long enough, you may just decide to hang on to that collection of yours!

Thank you all for your kind words of welcome.

I bought my stamp album from a friend in need several years ago, but between work and other interests never got into collecting. After seeing the album sitting around over the years I thought that it was time for me to pass it on to someone who collects and could enjoy the U.S. and worlwide stamps in my album. I am not expecting to get back what I paid for it, but will be happy if I get enough for a nice dinner for my wife and self.

The more I get into researching the stamps however, the more interested I become, particularly when I find some that are worth 5 or 6 times face value, and I have improved my geographical awareness to boot!

Who knows, maybe I won't sell the album - then again.............?

Welcome Lancsman -- a good friend of mine just got back from Georgia - I forced her to go to the aquarium there to see the whale sharks - I can only imagine how amazing they are. I even received a postcard :)
