IT IS Re-Gummed(Gum Should be yellow), and Re-Perfed, It also looks repaired (Lower right corner) You can see what looks like a small tear between the perfs. |

Quote: Why buy a book when there are so many detectives and knowledgeable people here? I just ordered one from Amazon.com -- there are three used copies left starting at $8.74 plus shipping. |

I sent an email to the seller... telling him his stamp was altered.. perfs, gum, etc.. his reply "Seller's Answer:
Hi Thanks for the info I am not a professional dealer, I just list them as I bought them. I'll tell you one thing I will not buy another stamp. Thanks" he ended the auction..
funny thing, I decided to look at a bunch of his stamps.. several others were suspicious, some obvious.. I can tell you I will not do business with this seller ever..

It's the standard reply of those who know very well they are selling questionable material. It might even be copyrighted from the Dummy's Guide to Running a Scam. Quote: I'll tell you one thing I will not buy another stamp. Yeah I bet. I'll believe that as much as I believe all those quality classics being offered by the seller. How can someone claim to be an APS life member not know these things? No APS membership number given. It figures. |

Ah, well, maybe we aren't talking about the same person. I don't ever recall them listing military medals; but then again, I really don't spend much time with their listings any more. |

If I may... speaking of books, IMO, the best simple reference set for anyone collecting U.S. Classics is "The United States postage stamps of the 19th century" by Lester G. Brookman. It really is the "Bible" on Classics. You want the 1967 3 volume edition, there was a reprint done in 1989 but they still bring $100 or so and they are softcover while the 1967 edition can be had, signed, for about $120-150.
It is worth every single penny. |

I don't have it, because I gave up on classic US. However, a philatelic acquaintance recently bought it after a similar recommendation (he only wanted to buy ONE book to add to his philatelic library) and he loves it. Almost all the major US dealers and store-front dealers I know have it. It is considered a classic, and is almost always available for sale somewhere. |
