This is not about stamps per se. I got a notification from PayPal requesting that I log in and confirm my credit card number(s). They wanted me to enter my card number, the expiration date and the three digit security code on the back.
What is up with this? Have any of you who use PayPal ever gotten a similar request?
I have not given them the information and won't until I know this is a legitimate request.
The Paypal home page looks absolutely normal.
Thanks, Ron H

Absolutely a scam Rohumpy, never touch any email that you do not know the source itimately. Any professional company wishing to contact you will do so in hardcopy.
Just replying in any fashion will leave you compromised.
Further: Yes I have had ove two dozen from paypal in the past 3 years even before I had an account.

Thanks rod222. The email address was service@paypay.com
What was so strange was the request for credit card info on a defunct card. As well as the current one.
And having given their e mail address, I see it is not paypal, but paypay. |

PapPal use your full name in emails. That can be a sign that its legit. Also, if in doubt, don't click a link in an email to access the site, login independently. The scammers set up mirror sites that look identical, and that's what you are taken to if you click the link in the email. |

These boys are so sophisticated, they recently sold a house via email in Perth where I live, and made off with $460,000 That involved getting a copy of a title deed etc. We also had MacDonalds eftpos machines compromised, they must have added the reader in the time the mac girl passed the machine to them, in the drive thru. |

Rohumpy Beware of scam relating to Paypal. I had a few in the last years. I think they come from Russia. "Anyway keep using Paypal as usual and you'll see" that's what I told myself when I received the first scam. Daniel |

A legitimate email from Paypal will tell you that your credit is expiring, and to go to paypal.com, log in and access your account that way. |

PayPal have requested that I do this on several occasions. But only after they have frozen my PayPal account following hacker attacks. |

Send that email to spoof@paypal.com and they will shut down that website. |

When you move your mouse pointer over the link in the email a URL destination should come up on the bottom of the window showing you where you will be taken to. PayPal is https://www.paypal.com/ Note the https, s is for sevure, encrypted. As everyone says, never click on links in emails. If you have a concern with PayPal or any other electronic funds provider / service then go directly to their web site yourself only in a new browser window and log in and see what is up there. |

I have checked the legitimate emails PayPal have sent me regarding my frozen account. The last two frauds were I believe automatic ebay fee deductions lodged by other parties against my PayPal account. The emails from PayPal contain no hot links. The email simply asks that I log in to my PayPal account and visit the resolution centre. In Australia you need a valid credit card to use PayPal. If there are issues with your account, in my experience PayPal freeze it immediately. |
