Anyone familar with RMX Services (a subsidiary of UPS)?

I found this among some used stamps and when looking up RMX Services on the internet, I came up with this explanation:

Global Management Services, LCC (commonly known as RMX), based in Reno, Nev., a new subsidiary of UPS, is helping customers save time and money while managing their flow of flats, which are pieces of mail that are larger than a letter but smaller than a parcel.

RMX sorts flats by ZIP code, ships them close to their intended destination, and drops them into the U.S. postal system. RMX saves 15 percent to 30 percent in cost over sending flats solely through the Postal Service and reduces transit hours, making delivery time for flats comparable to that of first-class mail.

I never heard of it before. Is this something old or new?

I received a package through them abot 1-1/2 years ago. Shipped No. Carolina to Denver UPS, then to me USPS. The Tracking show "Transfered to USPS Denver". That was the first time I've seen it. A lot of TV shopping networks use it.

Why not a meter?
I would have tended to afford that a "private meter" tag.

Probably is a meter of sorts. In fact, now that I think of it the UPS has (or had) a meter when a customer came in with a parcel to be sent. What gets me is that these labels (or meters) don't include a date (unless the last two digits in the one above is supposed to reflect it (i.e. 02-05 = February 2005?).

With no date affixed, I just wonder how long it took RMX to get the parcel into the postal system?

Yes, I think you're right, Feb 05.
I wonder what info is tied up in the bar codes?
"Time sensitive material" is interesting.
