These are the voyages of spock on his idiotic mission to collect MNH stamps in tropic climates and other such stupidities. This is episode 1
For now his crew is first officer puzzler science officer k turtle expert BC CIO virgin Strategist philB smauggie, navigator donna, nurse stampgal, counsellor kirk Transporter chief Rev- Chief Revenue Recruitment Officer. Rod- Master Purveyor of Scans.
bfranton, dianne earl are on board but currently without official posts but we will fill them in soon Tony is also accompanying us in the cargo hold against his will ( sorry but I refused to go without you Tony and since you wouldnt come in peace)
Ok in all seriousness this is what I have done
i have taken all my expensive stamps moved them out of the stock book which was poison for them based on my earlier experiments stock books are the worst thing ever for stamps where I live. a few hundred dollars on the stock books wasted.
i have put the stamps in museum grade archival plastic sleeves. I have then taken the plastic sleeves and put them in intercept shield boxes ( the shoe box size)
i am thinking this is a master stroke as it will neutralize all the bad gases before it reaches the stamps. It has already done wonders for my currency collection. so anyone has a problem with this idea of mine for any reason? I was the first person to do this for currency a few years ago and it looks like I am the first person to do this for stamps to stop them from getting tropicalised
Maybe our australian friends are also doing this? thanks
A also the them of this thread is to basically try out new solutions for our stamps and improve the hobby and do things once thought impossible. I think we have the best and the brightest int he world here at SCF and we are a family if we put our heads together we can even collect mint stamps under the ocean. So lets go out there and do it.

That does seem like a good method of preserving them, I am not sure where in India you live, but the climate in some places is like walking through water isn't it? oh, and thanks for making me a part of the staff. I will do my job diligently. |

This raises two questions... Quote: museum grade archival plastic sleeves By archival sleeves, do you mean something akin to the sleeves made for covers? Do they come in sizes that are small enough to be practical for holding a stamp? and Quote: this is a master stroke as it will neutralize all the bad gases before it reaches the stamps. Have you thought about eating more goat? I hear its easier on the digestive system. |

I had to edit that cos I was commenting on Smauggies comment which he edited and so mine made no sense and now I'm stuck in a space-time-loop with no signs of a wormhole. |

Wait a minute! As ship's nurse here, no one goes anywhere unless everyone, including Spock sits down to a big, healthy bowl of plotnik soup. Don't worry Spock. I have not been infected with Psi 2000.....more like Martha Stewart. Spock, a plotnik soup bath for the stamps might work. Have you given that a try?

ok Dianne Earl has been beamed on board. I think that was Kirks fault. He has been assigned as head of transporter services. apparently he has watched star trek to much and he thinks he needs to be on the bridge so I have made a special program for him ont he holodeck where he can pretend to be captain :)
CJd,
yes those sleeves are made for covers and currency notes. I have had unprecedented success with currency notes and coins using intercept shield and airtites and sleeves so I am going one step ahead and using these for stamps and souvenir sheets. If this experiment were to fail I would lose a few thousand dollars and that will sound the death knell for my collection.
BTW did someone get your goat recently? you keep talking about eating goat :) |
