On this stamp design, Australia is the dog.

We are exporting 16,000 tons of toxic waste to Denmark.
Apparently this is "envirionmentally friendly"
Lets hope this vessel does not sink. Shameful Australia.

Keep your waste in Australia. Most of the country is uninhabited anyway. (just kidding, I just can't believe that.)

The British did a lot of Atomic bomb testing in the South Australian desert country.
At the time the army exposed a lot of innocent solders to the horrible effects of radiation in the process.
There was a lot of effort to make the British clean up the mess! But nothing happened!
Then again Australia sells a lot of uranium overseas!

Nobody is innocent! KGV

Denmark cancels shipments of toxic chemical waste from Australia

THE Gillard government has branded as "unfortunate" Denmark's decision to cancel imports of hazardous chemical waste from Australia for disposal.
Approved in August but postponed by Denmark earlier this month, shipments of 6100 tonnes of highly toxic hexachlorobenzene (HCB) have now been cancelled by the Danish government following political opposition.

"It is unthinkable that we can take this waste in view of the way the situation has developed and the significant opposition, as much political as popular," said Denmark's Environment Minister Karen Ellemann.

Environmentalists were outraged when the Gillard government announced in June a first shipment of toxic waste, currently stored in Sydney, would be sent to a facility at Nyborg in Denmark because Australia cannot safely dispose of the hazardous material itself.

Was it economical reasons that Denmark originally accepted toxic waste from Australia? I would think that the cost of shipping, plus the increased risk of spill along the way would have been factors against the shipment. I guess Denmark made the low bid on disposal.

The date on the original stamp is 1991. Does that mean we've been sending our waste to Denmark for almost 20 years?

I think rod was only using it for the analogy.

The stamp is part of a 2 stamp series called "Keep Denmark Clean". This stamp is about picking up after your dog and the 2nd stamp shows a lady putting garbage in the bin.

Glad to hear the project was canceled. Toxic waste traveling half way across the world on a ship could end very badly!
